Today, at lunch, I saw this beast waiting at a light.

Now I know its hard to see the actual details of this since it was shot on my cellphone which doesn't have a zoom and I was about 150 yards from the vehicle. But that shouldn't matter, because if you look closely, their is text on the side of this truck....yes, actual text.
The text reads, "We make the world's best mattress" with a lovely graffiti tag under it.
Two things. First, you should never, ever, ever use white text on a white background, even with the 1pt black outline put on the text it is still not legible. Secondly, this is a very thin Sans-Serif font. When you want to make a statement, you need to be bold and bright with your text. Especially when its just one line of text.
Vehicle wraps are a great thing for a company, but they can utterly destroy any kind of branding image when done wrong. The typical vehicle wrap generates roughly 4-5 million views a year, when you are dealing with that kind of exposure it should be imperative that you hold true to your marketing guidelines, which im sure Serta Mattresses has some guidelines in place since they are a huge company. Remember, you only get 1-3 seconds of a viewers time on the road. Your message should be legible, short and clear.
So Serta, if you ever read this, I suggest you outsource your vehicle wrap designs to a legit designer who understands legibility and technicalities.
More bad vehicle wraps to follow soon im sure.
